Credit cards are great for earning points to use on your Disney vacations, or saving you thousands on your Disney vacations. But Chase offers two Disney credit cards that can bring you closer to Disney and, even better, a Disney vacation every time you use them.
Disney Credit Cards, Compared
We've written fully about choosing your Disney credit card before (and we suggest you check that article out as well) so we'll just give a quick recap here. The main differences between the Disney Rewards Visa Card and the Disney Premier Visa Card are:
- Annual Fee ($0 for Rewards Visa, $49 for Premier Visa)
- Sign-up Bonus (Usually $50 for Rewards Visa, $200 for Premier Visa if you meet certain spending requirements)
- Rewards Dollar Earnings (Rewards Visa earns 1% everywhere, Premier Visa earns 2% in at gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and most Disney locations and 1% everywhere else)
For many families, the Disney Premier Visa card is going to make sense because it has a relatively low annual fee and earns extra at gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and Disney expenses.
Why You Might Want a Disney Credit Card
There are two big reasons to consider a Disney credit card.
Consider a Disney Credit Card for the Special Perks Alone
The most obvious reason (and best reason, in our opinion) is for the awesome perks the Disney Visa gets you. For example, your Disney credit card will get you 10% off most Disney merchandise. This is a great way to expand the amount of Disney you get in your everyday life. Most kids these days are playing with Disney toys anyways, so why not save 10% when buying them?
We love this discount around the holidays. Disney's holiday merchandise can be a bit pricey, but a lot of it is really great. Saving 10% is a good way to bring some Disney holiday cheer into your life without going overboard on spending!
Use a Disney Credit Card to Save for Your Disney Vacation
One of the most common difficulties for Disney travelers is saving for their Disney vacation. Using a Disney credit card makes it a bit easier, as you earn Disney rewards dollars, not cash back or other points, as you spend. Now, let's be clear: Disney rewards dollars are not as flexible as points or cash back!! However, if your goal is to control how you're spending the money you get back from your credit card, you might want your points to be less flexible!
With the Disney Premier Visa, for example, if you spend $100 on groceries, you're automatically getting $2 for your next Disney vacation. You can spend those Disney rewards dollars on other Disney expenses, true, but not as much as if you were getting cash back.
We've written a lot about the Disney credit cards from Chase, but that's because there's a lot that goes into deciding to get a new credit card! While our Disney credit card isn't our favorite card, it is a good card, and, most important, every use brings us a little closer to Disney!
