Disney Cruise Line announced itineraries for Fall 2027 through Spring 2028, with plenty of big and small updates. In this post, I’m going to focus on my four biggest takeaways from the announcement!
Bookings Begin August 31
For these itineraries, early bookings open for select Disney Cruise Line Castaway Club members on August 31. General bookings open on September 8. We recommend reaching out to Travel With Character LLC if you’re interested in booking a Disney Cruise or any other Disney vacation.

Disney Cruise Line Returns To New York City
Let’s start with the biggest news, which also happens to be the item that impacts us most directly—Disney Cruise Line is returning to New York City!!
It’s been four years since Disney Cruise Line last sailed from New York so this comes as a very welcome return. Unfortunately at the moment, the schedule is a little limited, with a total of seven itineraries available from New York and one (the first one) ending there:
September 17 - 29, 2027 one-way from Southampton, England, visiting Scotland, Iceland, and Canada, ending in New York
September 29 - October 3, 2027 (Wednesday - Sunday) visiting King’s Wharf, Bermuda
October 3 - 8, 2027 (Sunday - Friday) visiting Boston and Saint John, Canada
October 8 - 14, 2027 (Friday - Thursday) visiting King’s Wharf, Bermuda and Halifax, Canada
October 14 - 19, 2027 (Thursday - Tuesday) visiting King’s Wharf, Bermuda
October 19 - 24, 2027 (Tuesday - Sunday) visiting King’s Wharf, Bermuda
October 24 - 31, 2027 (Sunday - Sunday) visiting Prince Edward Island, Canada, Sydney, Canada, and Halifax, Canada
October 31 - November 5, 2027 (Sunday - Friday) one-way to San Juan, Puerto Rico, visiting King’s Wharf, Bermuda
The longer itineraries in the fall don’t particularly cater to families with kids, but we can’t all have everything. I don’t expect to make it onto any of these, but I’m happy for anyone who gets Disney Cruise Line back in their life because of this change.
These sailings are all on the Disney Wish. It’s a sign of how quickly the fleet is going that the Wish has gone from being the flagship out of Port Canaveral to adventuring around Europe and the east coast.
Long-term, I’m optimistic for Disney to maintain a presence in New York City. As they expand, they’ll need to diversify their itineraries. With New York City already getting some attention even before the forthcoming ships, it makes sense that we might see more stability here going forward. But I have all the reason in the world to be too giddy about this, so take it with a grain of salt.
No Update on the Disney Believe
Disney didn’t announce any updates on the Disney Believe, but that’s not bad news at all. We know the Wish-class ship is still planning a late 2027 debut, and it’s unsurprising that Disney will handle that debut and the initial bookings separately from the rest of the itineraries. We’re also far enough away that they probably don’t want to lock in any dates (recall the delays of the the Wish and Adventure).
Port Canaveral
The Disney Destiny Moves to Port Canaveral
The Disney Destiny is Disney’s second newest ship at the moment, and the newest one with United States sailings (the Disney Adventure operates exclusively out of Singapore).
The Destiny currently operates out of Fort Lauderdale, which is a slightly awkward arrangement because you’d generally expect a ship of its popularity to run out of Port Canaveral, which is only an hour from Walt Disney World (versus at least 3 for Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades).
So, it’s unsurprising that the Disney Destiny will move to Port Canaveral beginning November 2027. This will make it much easier for visitors to Walt Disney World to add on a trip aboard the Disney Destiny, including some 3-night itineraries. (I haven’t run the numbers to see if this means the Disney Believe will debut in Fort Lauderdale. If so, I suppose there’s just some good reason to start ships there instead of in Port Canaveral.)

Disney Adventure Adds Malaysia
Kudos to the Disneyland Paris Cast Member who told me a port would be added to the Disney Adventure. Select sailings from December 31, 2026 to May 2027 will stop at Langkawi, Malaysia.
I haven’t been following the Disney Adventure much. I know the ship is very different from the other ships, and I know the general philosophy has been that the ship is the destination. With that context, I’m not sure whether to read into the addition of a single, nearby port.
One simple explanation would be that Disney wants to attract repeat guests, and their research suggests adding a port to the itinerary can help with that. I’d be interested to see if Langkawi, Malaysia becomes a long-term stop, or if they rotate with other ports of call nearby. Given that they’ve only added the stop for a short window, it sounds like Disney is still interested to see how this goes, too.
