Epcot Lightning Lane Changes Coming July 22

With Test Track set to reopen July 22, we’ll see some changes to the Lightning Lane Multi Pass tiers on that date. In this post, we’ll cover the changes and how they impact park touring strategy.

About This Post

This post supplements our existing core Epcot content in advance of the changes. Once the July 22 gets here, we’ll update all that content to reflect the new order. That content can be found here:

New Epcot Lightning Lane Multi Pass Tiers (July 22 Onward)

Beginning July 22, 2025, the Epcot Lightning Lane Tiers will look like this.

Tier 1 (Choose One In Advance)

  • Test Track

  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

  • Frozen Ever After

Tier 2 (Choose Two In Advance)

  • Soarin’ Around the World (formerly Tier 1)

  • Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival

  • Journey into Imagination with Figment

  • Living with the Land

  • Mission: SPACE

  • The Seas with Nemo & Friends

  • Spaceship Earth

  • Turtle Talk with Crush

The positive takeaway here is that Test Track will indeed be on Multi Pass. I’m glad Disney isn’t trying to squeeze extra money out of it by putting it on Single Pass. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind remains available only on Single Pass.

Epcot Tier 1 Analysis - July 22 Onward

At least initially, we’re expecting Test Track to be the most popular Tier 1 pick. If you’re entering from the International Gateway entrance, Test Track easily makes the most sense, as you’ll be in a good position to rope drop Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.

If you’re entering from the front of the park and planning to rope drop Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind, then Test Track is a great first Multi Pass pick. If you’re buying the Single Pass for Guardians, then it makes more sense to pick Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure with your first Multi Pass pick, then rope drop Test Track.

It’s worth noting that the “worst” case here is that you wind up booking Frozen Ever After with your Tier 1 pick—and that’s not really a bad situation. Frozen Ever After rivals Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in terms of popularity, and I’d not be disheartened at all to have it as my Tier 1 pick.

Finally, it’s worth considering some other factors:

  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure has a single rider line (guests must be 7 years old to use). Test Track used to have a single rider line, but I haven’t heard details on if it will when it reopens. Frozen Ever After has never had a single rider line. More information on Disney World’s single rider lines can be found here.

  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Frozen Ever After are kids’ family rides. Test Track is a thrill ride.

While my mindset is always on “do everything” these factors might tip your scale one way or another. With a group of just adults, for example, I’d really want the Test Track Lightning Lane, with a plan to just hop in the Remy single rider line if we could.

Epcot Tier 2 Analysis - July 22 Onward

With Soarin’ in Tier 2, it becomes an easy recommendation for one of your initial Tier 2 slots. The other slot can go to Mission: Space or Spaceship Earth.

More important than which Tier 2 rides you pick is when they are. Remember, as soon as you use your first Lightning Lane, you’re able to hold any combination of 3 Multi Pass Lightning Lanes at Disney World, including three Tier 1 rides.

At Epcot, where ride popularity heavily favors the Tier 1 rides, you’ll want to tap into basically any ride as soon as you’ve finished rope drop so that you can start trying to grab the other Tier 1 rides that you couldn’t book in advance.
