Disney announced a trio of soundtrack (and more!) overlays coming to Walt Disney World this holiday season. Here’s what you need to know, starting with a very cool, brand new overlay…
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Holiday Overlay!
Something I did not have on my bingo card and that has me itching to book a holiday trip is the newly announced “Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Obligatory Holiday Overlay.” Based on Disney’s description, this is going to be a complete overlay—starting outside the ride and continuing through the queue, preshow, and ride itself.
As for songs, Disney confirmed this setlist:
Holiday Road – The Electric Mayhem ft. Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear
Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) – The Electric Mayhem ft. Jennifer Hudson
Silver Bells – The Electric Mayhem ft. Cyndi Lauper
Little Saint Nick – The Electric Mayhem
Hollywood Studios is probably my favorite park for the holiday season, and this addition only adds to an already great atmosphere.
Notably, this overlay will be available November 4 through January 6. This is a great window, especially since the holiday season at Walt Disney World doesn’t technically start until November 13, and even Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios doesn’t start until November 7. It’s a smart decision that will hopefully keep demand reasonable for that kickoff party.
Holiday Music Returns to Alien Swirling Saucers
Also at Hollywood Studios, and also November 4 through January 6, Alien Swirling Saucers will have a holiday tracklist of four songs:
Deck the Halls
Joy to the Swirl
Swirling, Swirling, Saucers
Toyland
Alien Swirling Saucers actually has had holiday music for several years now, but it hasn’t always been promoted heavily by Disney. With the ride recently getting some additional Lilypad tie-in and Toy Story 5 recently released, it makes sense to give the ride a little bit of extra attention this year.
Holiday Music Returns to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Switching over to EPCOT, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will have a special holiday setlist from November 25 through January 6, 2027:
“It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Andy Williams
“Chrismas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra
“Christmas Wrapping” by The Waitresses
This is a pretty interesting one. Cosmic Rewind had holiday music back in 2022 to coincide with the release of the The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Disney+, and it was not universally beloved. It’ll be interesting to see how this one is received.
Notably, this overlay doesn’t start until November 25, which is after the start of the holidays at Walt Disney World Resort on November 13. This is presumably to avoid a “conflict” with the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, held until November 21. The park’s International Festival of the Holidays begins November 27.
Which holiday overlay are you most excited for?
