How to Meet Mickey Mouse at Disney World

Meeting Mickey Mouse is an essential part of any trip to Walt Disney World Resort. Luckily, there are several different ways to meet Mickey. In this post, we’ll discuss the different locations for meeting Mickey, including what outfit you can expect to catch him in, how to check wait times, and which greetings are on Genie+.

Basics of Meeting Characters at Disney World

If you’re really interesting in meeting Mickey or any other Disney characters when you visit Disney World, I highly recommend you also read our Guide to Meeting Characters at Disney World. That contains much more information about character greetings than this post, which focuses specifically on getting you to Mickey. We also have a post focusing on how to meet princesses at Disney World.

For the most part, Mickey Mouse greets in each theme park on a set schedule, and you can find his schedule for the day in the My Disney Experience app. You can also meet him at select character meals around Walt Disney World. We’ll discuss the park greetings and character meals in more detail below. Mickey Mouse also typically greets at the Disney World marathon.

Subject to Change

Character greetings are always subject to change. It’s unlikely Mickey will ever stop greeting at, say, Chef Mickey’s (well, except for that one time), but it’s very likely his unpublished greeting at the Epcot World Showcase entrance will disappear without any notice.

Most other greetings are in between. I will try to keep this post updated, but changes can often fly under the radar for a while, so I’ll leave comments open in case people have updates to contribute.

Wait Times

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Magic Kingdom, Mickey’s greetings have wait times listed in the My Disney Experience app. At Epcot, no wait time is posted.

Mickey’s Many Outfits

At most every greeting, Mickey Mouse is wearing a unique outfit. If you’re interesting in “collecting” different Mickeys, you’ll need to cover the parks and all the character meals.

While I have pictures from the four Disney parks, we don’t do character dining enough to cover all of those. Most any review you find of the meal on Google should have a picture of Mickey Mouse, though (we list the meals later in this post).

Where to Meet Mickey Mouse at Magic Kingdom

Mickey Mouse greets continuously throughout the day inside the Town Square Theater. The Town Square Theater is a large, unmissable building just to your right as you enter the park, after you pass under the train tracks.

That same building houses (or, as of this update, used to house) a Tinker Bell greeting, but that greeting is completely separate from the Mickey Mouse greeting.

Outside of special events, Mickey Mouse typically greets alone as “Magician Mickey” (not Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey) at this greeting. He used to talk, but that feature has since been removed.

The Mickey greeting at Magic Kingdom is formally named “Meet Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater.” It is listed as “Entertainment” on the My Disney Experience app, has a posted wait time, and is one of the Genie+ Lightning Lanes at Magic Kingdom.

During special events, you might catch Mickey in a different outfit. For example, during the 50th Anniversary Celebrations, Mickey and Minnie greeted in special outfits:

Where to Meet Mickey Mouse at Hollywood Studios

Mickey Mouse greets continuously throughout the day inside a building on Commissary Lane, opposite Sci-Fi Diner and ABC Commissary. The greeting is called “Mickey and Minnie Starring In Red Carpet Dreams.”

As the name implies, this greeting includes both Mickey and Minnie. They greet separately, though, one after the other. Mickey wears his Sorcerer’s Apprentice outfit, while Minnie wears a pink Hollywood-inspired dress.

“Mickey and Minnie Starring In Red Carpet Dreams” is listed as Entertainment in the app. It has a posted wait time, but it is not a part of Genie+ at Hollywood Studios.

I’d like to add that Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World is also home to Mickey’s first ride in a Disney theme park. The new Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway ride features Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, and Pluto on a cartoon adventure. Disney imagineers have brought the character to life with a variety of 2.5D screen tricks and animatronic figures.

Additionally, the new Mickey Shorts Theater shows a Mickey Mouse cartoon, giving you a chance to escape the heat and enjoy an exclusive short from Disney animation.

Where to Meet Mickey Mouse at Animal Kingdom

Mickey Mouse greets continuously throughout the day at the Adventurers Outpost on Discovery Island. Adventurers Outpost is on the east side of Discovery Island, along the path to Asia.

Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse greet together at this greeting, typically wearing adventurer outfits. They also sometimes have holiday-inspired touches at the end of the year. Use the arrows to see regular and holiday below:

The greeting is formally named “Meet Favorite Disney Pals at Adventurers Outpost,” and is categorized as entertainment in the app. It has a posted wait time and is a Genie+ option at Animal Kingdom.

Where to Meet Mickey Mouse at Epcot

Meeting Mickey Mouse is just about the only activity at Epcot that has improved as a result of all the ongoing work at the park. That said, you should definitely confirm this information before your trip, because the situation at that park changes rapidly.

Mickey’s Epcot spot is now Pixar Short Film Festival building (next to the Imagination Pavilion). When you approach the building you won’t immediately see him, but he’s just to the right when you enter, and he’s still in his formal wear.

Because the location is relatively hidden and not a part of Genie+, waits tend to be quite short.

The character spot is only listed in the “Characters” section of the app. There is no wait time, and the greeting is not a part of Genie+ at Epcot.

Holders of the Chase Disney Visa card may be able to meet Mickey at an exclusive greeting. The Disney Visa Cardmember Character Experience at Epcot occurs daily—usually in the afternoon—near the Imagination Pavilion. Mickey can appear, but the specific character is not announced ahead of time.

Character Meals With Mickey Mouse

At character meals, the featured characters will walk around greeting you as you dine. In some cases, headliners may simply greet you for a photo before you’re seated.

Character meals are popular advance dining reservations at Disney World and thus should be booked as early as possible. They can be a good use of Disney Dining Plan credits (whenever Dining Plans return), particularly if you can book them as a package (with show seating).

These character meals are ones where Mickey makes regular appearances. As always, greetings are subject to change. I recommend using Google to find some reviews if you’re interested in these meals. For restaurants with an asterisk *, Mickey makes regular appearances but is not listed as a daily character. We have a post ranking all the character meals at Disney World, too.

  • Chef Mickey’s, Contemporary Resort (Breakfast, Dinner)

  • Garden Grill*, Epcot (Lunch, Dinner)

  • Hollywood & Vine*, Hollywood Studios (Lunch, Dinner)

  • Topolino’s Terrace, Disney’s Riviera Resort (Breakfast)

  • Tusker House*, Animal Kingdom (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

It’s worth mentioning here that Cape May Cafe, at Beach Club, hosts a character breakfast with Minnie (characters return here October 4, 2022), but Mickey is not a regular at this meal.
