This post is a quick guide to TriceraTop Spin, but we have related content that dives deeper into topics. The Animal Kingdom Rides and Entertainment Guide gives brief introductions to all the park’s offerings. For putting together your day at the park, we have a One Day Plan for Animal Kingdom.

TriceraTop Spin Basics

TriceraTop Spin is an aerial carousel (like Dumbo) at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World. Triceratop Spin:

Disney does not provide any health warnings regarding the ride, but guests with a fear of heights may not want to ride. You can view the official ride page here.

You’ll find a video of the ride a bit below in this post.

Where is TriceraTop Spin Located?

TriceraTop Spin is located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the Dino-Rama portion of Dinoland USA. Entering the park, you’ll want to make a right U-turn at the Tree of Life. Following this path will take you to into Dinoland USA with TriceraTop Spin (and the rest of Dino-Rama) on your left.

Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama is a sort of “mini” land within Dinoland USA. Dinoland USA also includes Restaurantosaurus, The Boneyard, and the DINOSAUR attractions. Dino-Rama formerly contained a second ride, Primeval Whirl, but that ride has been demolished.

The remainder of Dino-Rama is pay-to-play carnival games and a small snack stand.

How to Ride TriceraTop Spin

TriceraTop Spin is the lowest priority ride at Animal Kingdom and rarely has a significant wait. It will usually make sense to ride it after DINOSAUR as they are the only rides in this part of the park.

Since it has no height requirement and usually short waits, TriceraTop spin is a staple of any day at Animal Kingdom with a small child. The ride also has no notably scary moments. If you have two adults and a small child, it might make sense for each adult to ride nearby DINOSAUR while the other rides TriceraTop Spin with the little one.

If you arrive early in the morning (on “easy” days with our toddler we’ll sometimes ride this early before visiting The Boneyard), you may be able to ride multiple times without exiting.

TriceraTop Spin Ride Experience & Review

This section contains spoilers (insofar as this ride can be spoiled).

The queue for TriceraTop Spin is entirely outdoors and unthemed.

The dozen-or-so Triceratops vehicles have two rows each, and each party is given their own vehicle. The guests in the back row have a joystick to move the Triceratops up and down. The guests in the front row have a joystick to tip the Triceratops forward and backward. You can watch a video of the ride here:

TriceraTop Spin is about two minutes long.

There isn’t much to review about this ride—it’s a standard aerial carousel. It does offer less impressive views than similar rides, like all three aerial carousels at Magic Kingdom. In any case, our toddler loves it, and I don’t think you need much more of an endorsement for a five-minute wait than that.
