Several Closures, Refurbishments Announced for Disney World

In a Friday date-drop, Disney World has announced several dates for upcoming closures and refurbishments. Attraction closures regularly appear on our Attraction Refurbishment and Closure Calendar, but since we’ve also got some restaurant news and several items all at once, I thought this provided a good chance to go park by park and remind readers of everything that’s going on.

Animal Kingdom

At Animal Kingdom, the wheels keep turning on the conversion of Dinoland USA to Tropical Americas. Disney has announced that Trilo-Bites and Dino-Bite Snacks—two small snack stands in Dinoland USA—will have their last day of operations on October 19.

As a reminder, the final day to experience DINOSAUR and Restaurantosaurus will be February 1, 2026, and that will be the end of Dinoland USA.

As previously noted, Harambe Market will take over the Restaurantosaurus menu—a disappointed but shrewd decision by Disney. Harambe Market will be closed beginning October 20 to begin the refurbishment work to allow the restaurant to serve the standard theme park fare currently at Restaurantosaurus. Some Harambe Market items will move to nearby Kusafiri Bakery.

And just to round things out, remember that Kali River Rapids remains closed for refurbishment until an unspecified December date.

Hollywood Studios

Over at Hollywood Studios, the Mickey Shorts Theater will be temporarily closed beginning October 20. It is expected to reopen at an unspecified date later this year.

ICYMI, Hollywood Studios also saw some other closures just a few weeks back, as Disney Jr. Play and Dance, Star Wars Launch Bay, and the rest of Animation Courtyard closed for the transformation to the new The Magic of Disney Animation area. This is on top of the creation of Monstropolis, plus the 2026 conversion of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster to its new Muppets theme.

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom joins the fray with a small update. Mickey’s PhilharMagic will be temporarily closed starting November 1st. Operating hours are posted for the attraction again on November 23, so that is presumably the targeted reopening date.

As a reminder, the park is already without both Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin until 2026. Work continues on the construction of Piston Peak—the new Cars area—and Villains Land.
